Detailed description

Project presentation. Novelty and complexity

The modern Power transmissions for turbogenerators used in co-generative plants up to 10 MW, consist of: the high speed (flexible disk or diaphragm) coupling, the planetary gearbox and the low speed coupling with torque limiter.

Novelty elements of the project:

  • A new product realized and tested for the first time in our country – the turbo transmission consists of the planetary gearbox , input speed 19.000 rpm and the high speed flexible disk coupling with anti-fretting coatings on the elastic elements , for 2 MW turbogenerators in cogeneration plants equipped with P&W ST18 turbine engine.
  • Studying and integration in the turbo transmission design, of the influence of the disturbing factors from the gas turbine and from the electric generator connected to the National Electric Grid; the transmission is designed to accept transient torque imposed by the electric generator due to short circuit or synchronisation out of phase with no damage to the components; as overload safety measure, the maximum peak torque capability of the gear is not less than five driver normal full load torque;
  • High reliability assured for long term > 30 years, continuous operation (>8000 hours/year) – the gear teeth life of over 85.000 hours in service and nominal efficiency higher than 98%. All of these were allowed by mean of: studying and applying the advanced constructive planetary gearbox solutions and high speed elastic couplings; optimizing the interface of the transmission constructive-functional parameters with the engine, the generator and the turbo generator automation; geometric and structural tooth calculations, vibration analysis, and 3D modelling;
  • Studying and application of anti-fretting coatings on the elastic disks of the high speed coupling;
  • Testing bench based on a turbogenerator special designed and realized for power transmission testing, involving the integration of the TURMO IVC turbine engine, the electric generator, instrumentation and the plant automation using a PLC and a data acquisition system, which allowed the control, display and registering of the parameters.
