TP1 turboprop engine is made based on the gas turbine engine TURMO IVC, made to be used for IAR SA 330 PUMA helicopter.
The engine was designed for civil and military aircrafts with up to 45 seats.
The TP1 engine is made of:
· Gas generator modulus
· Free power turbine modulus
· Gear box
· Variable pitch four-bladed propeller
The INCDT – COMOTI contribution in this program were the gear box and the four-bladed propeller with variable pitch automated or adjustable.
Both elements were premieres in Romanian science and techniques.
The force reductor functions by reducing the speed of the free turbine to the function speed of the variable pitch airscrew, ensuring in the same time the distribution of the in-flight stress, making the entire assembly to function as one unit.
The constructive solution is the stage one, the first one – cylindrical with four blades teeth and the second one – plane, with six satellites.
The variable pitch propeller is used to transform the power of the free force turbine into traction, adapting this process by pitch variation to the speed and flight conditions of the airplane
In order to be able to perform an emergency situations, the propeller has the ability of “feathered pitch”.
